Tasty Tuesday: Roasted Walnut and Goat Cheese Crostini with Texas Honey and Thyme

Hello again all! I hope you all enjoyed my appetizer recipe yesterday because I have another simple one for you today! It tastes really complex and sounds fancy, but it could not be more simple to make. You barely have to do any cooking, which is perfect for when you are trying to look nice for a party. No one has the time to be slaving away in the kitchen on Christmas! These walnut and goat cheese crostinis are sure to elevate your holiday spread. I took them to a friend's house over the weekend and they were a hit, so I am sure they will go over well with your family and friends also. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve tomorrow!

Roasted Walnut and Goat Cheese Crostini with Texas Honey and Thyme

  • 1 cup of raw walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 8 ounces of goat cheese
  • fresh thyme
  • toasted crostini bread (I found some pre-made in the bakery section of Whole Foods)
  • salt to taste

Heat a small pan over meduim and place the raw walnuts into the pan once hot. Continue to stir the nuts until lightly browned. Add the sugar and a pinch of salt. Cook until sugar is dissolved (it happens quickly, so keep an eye on it or the sugar can burn). Place the walnuts on a plate to cool. Generously spread each crostini with a thick layer of goat cheese. Heat the honey in the microwave (about 15 seconds in a small dish) and drizzle over the bread and goat cheese. Sprinkle a bit of salt onto the crostinis. Add your walnut pieces to each crostini as well. Sprinkle with fresh time, serve, and enjoy!

Recipe Monday: Tomato, Basil, and Mozzarella With A Balsamic Vinegar Reduction

Hello again lovelies! Christmas is just around the corner so I wanted to share with you a simple appetizer recipe that is sure to please at your holiday table. Not only is it very easy, but it's also healthy and colorful. The red, white, and green of this dish make it the perfect Christmas bite! I hope you enjoy these tomato, basil, and mozzarella skewers and they are a hit at your holiday feast!

Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Skewers

With A Balsamic Vinegar Reduction

  • 20 mozzarella balls, marinated
  • 20 basil leaves
  • 20 cherry tomatoes
  •  juice of one lemon
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of balsamic vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 20 skewers

Place the sugar and balsamic vinegar into a small pot and heat over medium heat. Cook until sugar is dissolves and the vinegar starts to reduce and become thick, much like a syrup. Remove from heat and let cool. Start assembling skewers by starting with a mozzarella ball, then a basil leaf, and ending with a cherry tomato. Continue this process until all your skewers are assembled. Finish by drizzling skewers with the balsamic mixture and garnishing with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Serve and enjoy!

Party Hats

Hello again all! Just wanted to share a simple little outfit I wore on Saturday to our friend's White Elephant gift exchange party. My friend Alison and her husband Chad hosted the festive event and it was so much fun getting our friends together before we all depart for the holidays. I ended up scoring a "movie night in a bag" during the exchange which contained Silver Lining's Playbook (my all time favorite movie) on DVD, a bag of Twizzlers, a box of Junior Mints, and three bags of kettle corn popcorn. Considering those are pretty much my all time favorite foods, I could not be more excited!

When thinking about my outfit, I wanted to wear something pretty casual with a slight bit of edge. It just so happened to be in the 60's in Dallas, so I opted for an autumn, sleeveless dress that I winterized with some over the knee boots and an over-sized matador hat. I still have an Engagement party, my office Holiday party, and a pre-Christmas friendly get together to attend this week and weekend, so you may see a few dressier outfits the next couple of days. Hopefully, they can help inspire your Chanukah, Christmas, or even New Years Party outfits this year!  Love you all and thank you so much for following!

New Couch and Accessories

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The Hubs and I had a great time going out to dinner and enjoying each other. We tried a new Italian restaurant near our house and revisited an old favorite we had not been to in a while. It was nice to have some time for just the two of us before the holidays are upon us.

On to today's post. I wanted to do a little home decor post because we recently purchased this awesome new sofa! We had been saving for a while and, with the help of my sweet in-laws, we were able to make it our own. It is the Carlisle sofa from Pottery Barn in an Oatmeal colored linen fabric. We went for the apholstered version because I perfer to see the legs on furniture rather then cover them up with a slip covered fabric. We also went for the bench-style cushion since it is ideal for laying down. I chose to accent it with identical colored linen pillows as well as these fun Ikat beauties. When I went to buy the Mercer Ikat pillow at the store, the Pottery Barn employee referred to it as "the most popular pillow of all time." They only had one left in store and none available at stores near me, but luckily I was able to order some online and had to wait a few months for them to come in. Now they are finally back in stock, so I suggest snatching them up quicly before they are gone forever! To bring out the mustard color in the pillows, I chose to add a large throw blanket, which I really think ties it all together. So far, we are loving the couch and are beyond pleased with the way it transforms our whole living room space. I hope you enjoy this little decor post!
