Summer Staples with Closet Swap

Happy Friday everyone! This week has felt really long for me, so I am happy to finally bring on the weekend. I wanted to talk to you all today about summer staples and how to transform your spring wardrobe into one appropriate for the new season. Since it is a fashion faux pas to wear white before Easter and after Labor Day, I love to support as much white as possible in the summertime. This white pencil skirt is one of my all time favorites year after year. You can dress it up or down so easily and it adds such an elegant flare to any outfit.

This year, I will be able to get all of my summer staples through a company called  Raise is a new marketplace where you can buy discounted gift cards to your favorite brands, and sell your unused gift cards for cash! How awesome right? It is so easy to use and can even be linked up to your facebook account. I love that I can now trade in some unused gift cards I have for gift cards to the stores I love to buy the latest fashions. I only wish I could have done this sooner!

Stiped Midi

Hello again guys! Today I wanted to share with you this lovely striped column midi dress my sweet mother in law gifted me. I love how well it fits my body and how elegant it is. It is the perfect occasion dress for the summer, but because it is jersey I think it can be dressed down with flats and a light jacket as well. I adore pieces with versatility. I hope you enjoy this simple classic look!

Rainy Day Glam

Hello again all! Yesterday it rained on and off but I was in the perfect mood to dress up so I didn't let the drizzling stop me! I tried to mix casual easy pieces with a bit of glam to brighten up the gloomy day. I love the way a statement necklace can change a simple t shirt and how cute this bubble skirt looks with rain boots. I hope you enjoy this fun outfit!

Maxi For Memorial Day

Hello lovlies! I hope you all had an amazing Memorial Day weekend. My brother Michael came up to visit Trav and I and we had the best time together. Hanging out, playing board games, and watching movies was the extent of our weekend, but it felt great to relax and unwind as much as we did. I wanted to share with you all the outfit I wore yesterday. Feeling a bit patriotic, I wanted to keep my outfit blue and white so I grabbed this perfect dress my sweet mother in law got for me while shopping last weekend. I love the cut of this halter top for the summer because most of my bathing suits are halter tops and I always have trouble finding a dress that covers up the straps. I also love how it is a maxi dress and I can see myself getting a ton of use out of it this summer. What do you think of the dress? What did you all wear for Memorial Day? Let me know!

Recipe Wednesday: Thai Style Red Coconut Curry With Chicken And Vegetables

Hello again all! I have another recipe post to share with you today. I absolutely love Thai food, it is one of my favorite types of food to eat but there are not many Thai recipes I have been brave enough to try. When I came across this one from Eat Live Run I knew that was about to change. I love red curry and coconut milk together and all the veggies in the dish sounded delicious. I made this for dinner last night putting my own spin on it and I think it came out great. I really think anyone would like this dish, so why not give it a try?

Thai Red Coconut Curry Chicken And Vegetables

  • 1-1/2 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 2 cans (about 4 cups) of light coconut milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons of red curry paste (4 tablespoons if you like spice0
  • 2 baby bok choy clusters, ends chopped
  • 3 small zucchini, peeled and sliced into 1/4" thick pieces
  • 1″ knob ginger, grated
  • 1 cup of snow peas
  • 1 sweet potato, peeled and sliced into 1/4″ thick pieces
  • 4 carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/4" thick pieces
  • 1 sweet onion, diced
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp fish sauce
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp salt
  • cooked rice or quinoa for serving

Heat the coconut oil in a large heavy-bottomed pot (I used a dutch oven) over medium high heat. When the oil is hot, add the ginger and saute until it starts to brown, about two minutes.
Salt and pepper the chicken and add it to the pot. Sear it until browned on the outside but not quite cooked through. Remove from the pot and set aside. Add the zucchini, sweet potatoes, onion, and carrots to the pot and saute for about five minutes. Add the curry paste to to pot and mix in with the viggies. Then add the chicken back to the pot. Pour in the coconut milk and water, then add the bok choy, and chopped snow peas. Bring the curry to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer and cover. Stir in the fish sauce, salt, lime juice and sugar. Continue simmering over medium/low heat until veggies are soft. This will take about 10 minutes. Serve curry over rice or quinoa and enjoy!

Tasty Tuesday: Roasted Asparagus

Hello again lovelies! I have another recipe for you today that my bestie Rachel made for us all as a part of our Easter dinner inspired by an Ina Garten recipe. It is a pretty simple veggie dish, but it is a delicious part to any summer meal. The brightness of the lemon juice brings out the flavors of the roasted asparagus making it the perfect side. I hope you enjoy this dish!

Roasted Asparagus With Lemon

  •  2 pounds of fresh asparagus
  • lemon
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Snap the tough ends of your asparagus. Toss your veggies with the olive oil, salt, and pepper and arrange on the baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the asparagus are tender but still crisp. Remove from the heat and finish with lemon juice. Serve and enjoy!

Meggie Frue At Home: Balustrade Coffee Table

Happy Friday everyone! I am pretty excited to do another decor post today because I get to talk about the new addition to the Fruehauf family...our Restoration Hardware coffee table! I know its a little dramatic, after all it's "just a table" but this has been such a long time coming. I have been lusting over it for over two and a half years and Travis and I have been saving money and hoarding gift cards in that time to eventually call it our own. The day finally came last Wednesday. I checked my email and noticed there was a sale, and my sweet parent's and in-laws had given me some gift cards to put toward it for my birthday (thank you SO so much). I counted it up and we finally had enough, so we decided to take the plunge! It got delivered to our house on Saturday and we could not be more pleased with it! The coffee table fits our style perfectly and adds such a sophisticated touch to our living room. After it came, our old tray just would not do for the new table, so we ran out to Pottery Barn to pick up this cement candle tray that I had my eye on. I think the proportions work much better with our larger table, and I love that I have the ability to change what goes in the tray. Right now it is candles, but soon it may be a succulent bouquet and I know in the winter it will be perfect filled with mercury glass Christmas ornaments. To sum it all up, we are so in love with our new piece!
