Tasty Tuesday: Roasted Broccoli



Happy Tasty Tuesday my lovely followers! Today I have for you another simple and healthy recipe, roasted broccoli. I know we could all use a few veggies in our life after the turkey, stuffing, and pie overload we experienced this past week. I really love roasting vegetables lately. I think it gives them much more flavor then boiling, and they have a nice crunch fresh out of the oven. This is a recipe I adapted from Ben & Birdy. The tiniest bit of sugar in this recipe helps the broccoli caramelize and brown around the edges, so it is important not to omit it. This broccoli is the perfect side dish to any meal, and I hope you enjoy!

Simple Roasted Broccoli 

 

 Ingredients:

  • 2 small heads of broccoli 
  •  3 tablespoons of olive oil 
  •  1 teaspoon of salt
  •  ½ teaspoon of sugar

 

 Directions:


Move your oven rack to the lowest rung. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Wash and cut the broccoli into small florets. Place the broccoli florets into a bowl and toss with 2 tablespoons of oil, the salt, and the sugar. Grease a cookie sheet with the remaining oil. Line the florets cut side down onto the sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the broccoli starts to brown. Serve and enjoy!
