Tasty Tuesday: Super Simple Sweet Potatoes

Hello again and happy Tuesday. Today I wanted to share with you an extremely simple recipe for those days you really cannot worry about a complicated side dish. Also, this is a great healthy dish that would be perfect for your thanksgiving table, roasted sweet potatoes. I personally love sweet potatoes when they are a bit salty rather then sweetened up with brown sugar and that is what I have done with this recipe. Feel free, however,, to change it up by adding brown sugar, maple syrup, or even honey before roasting. These potatoes are also great because the leftovers make an amazing sweet potato hash to go with any breakfast. I've even used them in a salad before. I just love how versatile a sweet potato is. It is also South Beach Diet Phase Two friendly. The Hubs and I really loved this dish and I will be making it again for sure. I hope you enjoy this simple dish!

Simple Roasted Sweet Potatoes

 Ingredients:

  •  2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2-4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

 Directions:

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Cut your sweet potato into small, half inch to quarter inch cubes. Place your sweet potatoes into a large ziplock bag. Add two tablespoons of the olive oil, salt, and pepper to the bag and toss around until fully coated. If you need to add a bit more oil then do so. Place your sweet potatoes onto a large, lipped baking sheet. Roast for about 20-30 minutes, stirring the potatoes every ten to ensure they cook evenly. Once soft enough to ease a fork into the potatoes, serve and enjoy!

Makeup Monday: Multi-Use Josie Maran Products

Happy beginning of the week guys! I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is only a few short days away. This weekend we had an amazing little Friendsgiving pot luck party to celebrate our friendships, babies that are on the way for Matt and Jill and Brian and Jessie, and a new life adventure in Morocco for our good friends Danny and Mitzi. I made a double batch of my Bacon, Thyme, and Sage Stuffing recipe which turned out to be a stuffing overload, so I have plenty to bring to my office party on Wednesday as well. We had such a blessed time and look forward to making this an annual celebration.

For my post today, I wanted to share with you some awesome multi-use makeup products. they all come from the brand Josie Maran Cosmetics and they are amazing, all natural products. I love multi-use products because they save me so much time and money. When a blush can also be my lip stain, or a face oil can also tame frizzy hair, I am set! let me know what your favorite multi-use makeup products are so I can try them out as well!

The first product I want to discuss is one I have talked about in the past, Josie Maran Pure Argon Oil. It is a lightweight oil that can be used as a daily moisturizer or treatment for skin, hair, and nails. This 100% Pure Argan Oil is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and can be used as a daily moisturizer or treatment for skin, hair, and nails. With its multitasking benefits, Argan Oil absorbs rather quickly and can be used for many areas including hydrating and nourishing skin, as a daily moisturizer, skin treatment, treating spilt ends, and softening cuticles. It's gentle enough to use on all skin types and is believed to help with skin conditions including acne. It is the highest grade of this oil, grown organically in Morocco and packaged in recycled glass bottles. I like to use it as my nighttime moisturizer as well as a split end treatment on my hair. It helps control my oil production on my T zone as well as keeps the dryer areas on my face smooth and hydrated. I love this stuff!

The second multi-use product that I adore is the Josie Maran Coconut Water Cheek Gelee. This buildable and bendable gel blush provides the natural look of a cream blush with the long-lasting hydrating color of a stain. It is infused with 50 percent-pure coconut water as well as vitamin E rich argon oil to instantly hydrate your cheeks and lips and drench them in veil of color for up to 14 hours of wear. It has a slight cooling sensation when applied that lasts well into the day. Once dry, the color sets into skin like a stain. It is perfect on cheeks, but works extremely well for lips as well, especially with its hydrating properties. This is on of my favorite blushes and the only cream/gel blush in my collection. I like to apply it with a stippling brush and blend it out with my beauty blender. Sometimes, I will even apply it with a heavy hand first and then apply a sheer foundation over top giving my skin a rosy from within natural looking flush. I especially love this on extra dry or mature skin, as powder blush tends to cling to dry patches and age us.

The final product is the Josie Maran Argon Illuminizer. This ultra-light skin brightener is perfect for highlighting and adding an instant beautiful luminosity to the face, collarbone, and body. It can be used alone or mixed with foundation for an instant boost of radiance and a natural glow that lasts all day. It is a champagne color, so it works well with most light to medium skin tones, but I would advise against it if you are very pale or deep. If I use this alone I apply it after foundation and concealer but before any powder products with my beauty blender. I, however, mostly use this mixed with my foundation, especially when the formula is ultra matte and I want a bit of a natural glow. It is not sparkly or glittery, but gives the skin an iridescent sheen that is just lovely.

Feeling So Fall

Hey guys! Happy Friday! Today I have for you a fun, easy outfit I wore shopping last weekend with two of my girlfriends. I wanted to go for a comfortable yet fashionable outfit that was easy to take on and off in dressing rooms. I have been wearing this skirt nonstop. I just love how it cinches my waist and how it flows even though it is vegan leather. I have also been loving these loose, bohemian wavy curls and have been rocking them lately with a deep red lip. As you already know, I just cannot show my chambray shirts enough love, and these easy cowboy type boots I have basically worn to death! I had so much fun just browsing the mall, and picked up a few great pieces from Free People that I cannot wait to share with you. The stylist, Jessi, who checked me out was so nice and I found out she also has a blog! Its called The Jessi Project and she has an amazing sense of style, so you must check her out! I hope you enjoy this easy shopping outfit!

Beauty Thursday: The Macro - A Skin Changing Experiance

Hello all! Happy Thursday. I cannot believe Thanksgiving is only ONE WEEK AWAY!!! This year has just seemed to fly by and I am not at all prepared for the Holiday season to approach this quickly. If you are anything like me then you are starting to think of fun, useful gifts for all of your friends and family. Well, look no further! Today I have for you an amazing tool that is sure to please most of the adults on your list. It is called the Rodan and Fields REDEFINE Macro Exfoliator. This little gem does the job of a personal microdermabrasion treatment at your dermatologists office right in your bathroom! Who doesn't love a great at-home spa treatment? And, although pedicures and massages are great, this device continues to improve the condition of your skin week after week. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving

Used once a week, this hand-held, personal use exfoliation tool sweeps away dead skin cells leaving behind a smoother, healthier-looking skin and a  more luminous complexion. It provides a vacuum type suction to slowly remove dead skin cells as well as clean out pores and stimulate the skin. It is topped with the same diamond head tip as the tool at your dermatologist's office, but instead of removing the top two layers of skin, it just removes the top one. This makes it acceptable for use once a week rather then once every one or two months. Unlike other personal microdermabrasion tools, the Macro incorporates "Doc Smart" technology in the screen on the handle. It is a 5 minute routine that the screen guides you through. When activated, the screen shows a face that demonstrates which part of the body to apply the tool next as well as what direction to move the tip in. It also self adjusts the level of intensity depending on how sensitive the skin area is. You also have the ability to switch it to manual mode if you prefer. The best part is that after just ONE USE you can see results. And, if you do not believe me, just check the filter. Inside you can see all the dead skin cells you have just removed. Kinda gross but kinda cool! After you are done, cooling gels packed with aloe and other skin soothing ingredients are provided. The gel instantly calms down redness and leaves a cooling sensation. It also helps to protect your new layer of skin from the elements.

I honestly look forward to doing this every week. I can truly see a difference in the texture and luminosity of my skin. I no longer get those pesky under the skin bumps that never seem to come to a head. I also see my acne scars rapidly fading, my pores shrinking, and my blackheads becoming less and less frequent. I really stand behind this tool and I can easily say it is my favorite thing I have purchased from the R+F line.

The Macro kit includes:  Rechargeable MACRO Exfoliator, MACRO Exfoliator Cooling Gels, Charging Base, AC Adaptor, User Guide, Quick Start Guide, Tip Cleaning Brush, Spare Exfoliation Filter, Spare Filter Pads, and Tweezers

There are also a few other ways you can purchase the Macro. One is called the Aging REDEFINE Special, which includes the Macro kit above as well as the full REDEFINE regimen.  I think this makes a great gift because contains the Daily Cleansing Mask, Pore Minimizing Toner, Triple Defense Treatment SPF 30, Overnight Restorative Cream, Rechargeable MACRO Exfoliator, MACRO Exfoliator Cooling Gels, Charging Base, AC Adaptor, User Guide, Quick Start Guide, Tip Cleaning Brush, Spare Exfoliation Filter, Spare Filter Pads, and Tweezers.

The third and final option is a special that will only be available through December 31st. It is called the Skintervention Special and to me is the most bang for your buck. It contains everything in the Aging REDEFINE Specail plus the Amp MD System. That means you get: Daily Cleansing Mask, Pore Minimizing Toner, Triple Defense Treatment SPF 30, Overnight Restorative Cream 30, Rechargeable MACRO Exfoliator, MACRO Exfoliator Cooling Gels, Charging Base, AC Adaptor, User Guide, Quick Start Guide, Tip Cleaning Brush, Spare Exfoliation Filter, Spare Filter Pads, Filter Pad Tweezers, AMP MD Micro Exfoliating Roller, Night Renewing Serum, Cleansing Vial and Purification Tablets.

PHEW!!! That's alot of info!

I will list the link to the prices below, but remember as always if you sign up to be a preferred customer you will receive 10% off as well as free shipping on your order for a one time fee of $19.95. This is especially important with this tool because it is a bit pricy since its a one-time-buy. You can sign up for the PC program HERE by clicking on the "enroll now" button and be on your way to more beautiful skin!

Borrowed From The Boys

Hello again my lovely followers. Today I have for you a fun menswear inspired outfit post I wore to a friend's baby shower a few weeks ago. What I love about it is that it is classy enough to wear to more special event, but you are much more comfortable with the freedom pants allow you to have. Even though most of the outfit is masculine, it to me still feels very feminine. I am loving these fun new tasseled loafers and wearing them often to work. The high waisted black jeans I have on are one of my favorite purchases this fall. Again, with my lipstick obsession, I am rocking a fun red lip that gives the outfit that girly edge. I also always love sporting my lady tie from the adorable Etsy store Flapper Girl. You have to check her stuff out, it is so retro and fun! I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday and I'll talk to you all tomorrow!

Tasty Tuesday: Fall Harvest Salad

Hello again! Today's Tasty Tuesday post is the perfect little fall salad for your Thanksgiving table. It incorporates some fall fruits, nuts, and tangy goat cheese to please any pallet. I love how simple it is, but how impressive as well. I love mixing romaine and iceberg lettuce to give each bite a new taste. Pomegranates are my all time favorite fruit, and fall is the time when they are largest and sweetest. The dressing is a spin off of Maggiano's famous house dressing that I adapted from Our Best Bites. The dressing recipe below makes a large amount, so you can use it in future salads as well. I hope you enjoy this harvest salad!

Fall Harvest Fruit And Nut Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 head of iceberg lettuce
  • 1 heart of romaine lettuce
  • 1 pomegranate, seeded
  • 1 English cucumber, diced
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1 shallot, sliced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 cup of sliced almonds, toasted
  • 3/4 cup of crumbled goat cheese

Directions:

Place a small pan on medium heat. Toast the almonds until slightly brown. Remove from the pan and let them cool. Rinse your lettuces and chop into bite sized pieces. Place in a large bowl. Cut the top and bottom off the pomegranate. Score on the sides where you see it naturally separate (see pictures below). Break apart with your hands and seed. Chop cucumber and shallots and add to bowl. Chop the apples and toss with the lemon juice to prevent browning. Add the almonds, cheese, and pomegranates to the bowl and toss.Add dressing and toss again. Serve and enjoy!

Simple Vinaigrette Dressing

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of white sugar or stevia
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 2 teaspoons of minced garlic
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons of coarse kosher or sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil

Directions:

Finely mince the garlic and add to a bowl. Add all remaining ingredients except oil and whisk. Add the oil slowly as you continue to whisk. Toss a small amount with salad, serve, and enjoy!

Window Pane

Hello again! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. The Hubs and I spent most of our time relaxing and having fun with good friends, so our weekend was very enjoyable. I know on Mondays I usually do a makeup post, but I decided to switch things up today. My outfit today incorporates a new midi skirt that I just recently picked up. What I love about it is the window pane pattern, which is very popular this fall season. I also love the pleating details and neutral color scheme, which takes a trendy skirt and makes it a bit more classic. I am wearing my buckled booties again to give the skirt a bit of an edge, and my favorite little bolero jacket. The lipstick I am wearing is also new. MAC has this great "back to MAC" program where you can recycle six empty MAC products and you will receive a free lipstick, lip gloss, or eyeshadow of your choice. I chose the shade "Diva" because I love a good burgundy red for fall. I hope you all have a wonderful start to your week!
