The Question That Changed My Life

It all began two years ago...

It was a beautiful, chilly fall day on November 6, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. Travis had just flown in from Dallas the day before to spend a nice long weekend with me. I was working at an Italian restaurant at the time and, unfortunately, could not get anyone to cover my morning bar tending shift, so he was keeping me company as a costumer all day while I waited for someone to relieve me of my drink-making duties. After my shift, we walked back to my apartment and I started to get ready for the evening. Travis was being sweet and trying not to rush me, but i could tell he was very anxious. We had decided to go visit Boathouse Row, which held a special place in our hearts. It was the exact spot that we said "I love you" for the first time to each other on Travis' first trip out to Philadelphia. We had visited it in the daylight and in the evening, but we had never watched a sunset in the gazebo over the lake. The plan was to make it out to our spot for the sunset and walk around a bit, and then head off to a fancy dinner. I finished up getting changed, and then covered myself in layers of warmth and decided that I should wear these god awful UGG's while we walked around, and then change into heels before dinner (in his defense, Travis asked me about five times "Are you SURE you want to wear those shoes???"). Anyway, so finally we got into a cab and made our way to our favorite Philadelphia landmark. he held my hand as we approached the gazebo, which was covered in red and white rose petals. There was a wedding party taking pictures right in front, whose colors were also red and white. They seemed to part ways and form a pathway for us to go inside the gazebo. I was reluctant to continue, "I don't want to ruin all their rose petals" i remember saying, but Travis reassured me to trust him, and that it was OK so onward we walked. Once inside the gazebo, Travis looked into my eyes and told me so many sweet things, how much he loves me, and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Then, all of the sudden, he was getting down on one knee! It was then that he asked me the question....

"Meghan, will you marry me?"

and of course i responded right away with "YES!" It was then that he informed me that not only were the rose petals set up for me, but that he had flown our generous friend down to guard the gazebo until we arrived and photograph the whole experience!

He is the sweetest, most thoughtful, most loving man in the world and I am so happy to call him mine!
