Chambray Top, Three Ways

Chambray, The New Neutral

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to do another staple piece three ways, the chambray shirt. Now I realize I have been featuring this top in a few posts, however I really want to emphasize it's versatility. I think it is a really great buy and if you do not yet own one, I would suggest getting one. It is light, comfy, and easy to dress up or down, depending on the occasion.

This first look is perfect for going out. I have paired it with highlighter pink high waisted pants and have left it untucked for a more casual vibe. I have also dressed it up with a fab pearl and rose gold chain necklace that compliments the pink in my pants and my bright pink lips. I have kept the shoe to a nude pump and have decided not to roll the bottom of the pant for a more elongated leg. The shirt is a neutral basic without being a traditional white top. When I wear a piece of clothing as bright and as statement-making as these pants, I like to keep the remainder of the outfit pretty neutral so it does not compete with my feature piece. I hope you enjoy!

For my next look I decided to go for a fun afternoon/casual Friday type look. When mixing the chambray with denim bottoms to create a monochromatic look, make sure that the denim is either a much darker or much lighter color, otherwise you will clash, and we do not want that! I have paired it with a fun orangey-red blazer, which is a color that goes really well with blue or denim. This time, i have opted to tuck in the shirt for a more professional and put together look. I have also cuffed the sleeves over the jacket to accent the arms a bit. I do that often to show a bit more of the shirt. This time I have warn it with a lower necklace and have kept a nude shoe, but this one is a lower heel, appropriate for the office.

The last look I have created is also office appropriate. if your office is a bit more strict then mine, you can always par the same look on top with black slacks or khaki pants. My office is a bit more casual, so I could wear this combo any day of the week. It is also an easy outfit to take into the night by swapping the boots for a fun heel, or even a heeled boot or bootie. This time I have layered the chambray top with one of my favorite fall must haves, the nude sweater. I particularly love this one because of the elbow pads, a detail that is very popular right now. I have gone back to my rose gold necklace, because I just love that soft, muted pink shade against the nude color of the sweater. The golden undertones in the nude bring out the pink in the rose gold even more. The "fun" part of this outfit is again the bright pants, but I have toned down the brightness by wearing thigh high boots. This is a good way to wear light jeans if you are a bit hesitant toward too much color. these are a bright red which, like the blazer, I just love with chambray. You could easily do a more "oxblod" red color, which is a very popular color for fall (it is almost like a ruby jewel toned red).
