Third Time Humbled

Thanks So Much!

Hello again lovelies! A few days ago I found out that the wonderful Kim of The Only Observation also nominated me for the Liebster Award! The third time is absolutely a charm, thank you so much Kim. You really have to check out her site, she has such a unique and inspiring style. Because I have already nominated my 11 fellow bloggers, I thought I would just answer her questions. By the end of today, you all will probably know everything there is to know about me.

1.What item in your wardrobe do you never get bored of?
I don't think I could ever get bored of my pencil skirts. They are great for work and really flatter my figure.

2.What do you do whenyour having a bad hair day?
Braidbraid braid! Whether its a regular, French, or fishtail I think abraid is the easiest way to mask bad hair.

3. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Oh goodness, I'm going to guess about 20....gosh I sound like a hoarder! The great thing about shoes is that even when you gain (or loose) a few pounds, your shoes still fit!

4. What is missing in your life right now?
Honestly nothing! I have an amazing husband, loving family, wonderful friends, a good job, and a place to rest my head, what more could I want!

5. Do you find blogging hard to keep up with?
Sometimes I do, it can be difficult to find time in the day to actually sit down and write, answer peoples question/comments, or take pictures, but I would not have it any other way. I like a challenge and a chance to express my creativity, and blogging gives me both.

6. What have peoples reactions been to your blogging?
Very supportive reactions from both my family and close friends, and that is all I could ask for!

7. Clashing patterns, yes or no?
It totally depends on the pattern. I generally think that a busy pattern with a small print or stripe goes best with a larger, more calm pattern. I also think the patterns should be opposite, like a mix of stripes and polka dots, or floral and hounds tooth.

8. Summer wardrobe or Winter?
Can I say fall? That is totally my favorite season because of the layering! The problem with winter is, depending on where you live, you are always really bundled up when your outside. I love summer clothes, but the scarves, blazers, pants, and boots of fall melt my heart.

9. Accessories, minimalist or maximalist?
I would have to say mostly a minimalist. I am not a huge bracelet person, they tend to bother me and I play with them a bunch. I love belts and statement necklaces, and of course a good bag, but I normally only wear one real statement piece at a time. If I wear big earrings, I don't do a necklace or I only wear a small chain. Its a real trade off, but if you wear too much at the same time, people don't notice the real fashion moment a statement piece can have.

10. Whats your guiltypleasure?
Buying new makeup. I always have to try it out right away and I am a bit obsessed with trying new things, mostly mascara and lipstick!

11. Are you happy?
Yes! Extremely happy!

Thoughts And Prayers

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families of the terrible Connecticut shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. May you always remember the joy your lost loved ones brought to your life and may we all be able to move past this tragedy and prevent this from ever happening again.

Winter Table Arrangement

Welcome To My Winter Wonderland

I would love to share with you today my winter table scape. It is made up of a few different components, but hopefully I can break it all down for you so that, if you like it, you may be able to re-create it in you own home. I decided to use natural colors with the burlap and greenery, and silver only, to keep it semi monochromatic. I started off with the ivory table runner I picked up from Pottery Barn (similar here, I could not find it online, but they may have my exact one in stores still) and the darker brown burlap underneath is actually a 9" burlap ribbon form save-on-crafts.com (here). On top of that I placed a rustic wooden tray from Park Hill Collections, which is a wholesale website, but you can find similar trays herehere, and here and you can stain this one here yourself. On top of the tray I placed apothecary jars that I also found at save-on-crafts.com (here and here). I filled them with pine cones and cardboard ball ornaments form save-on-crafts.com (here and here), and rustic bells and silver trimmings from Hobby Lobby (here). Also on the tray I placed fresh greenery that I picked up from Lowes when we got our tree. they gave it to me fro free, and I used the trimmings in other areas of my house. i then put some pine cones, bells, and Christmas balls on top of the greenery. Around the tray I incorporated some antiqued mercury glass candle sticks and candles (4x4.5" and 4x8") from Pottery Barn (here). On one of the candle sticks I placed a mason jar from Michael's (similar here for small and here for large) with more Hobby Lobby greenery. I also placed more mason jars around the table with vanilla scented candles. On either end of the table I wrapped old wine bottles in jute cording (here) by just rubbing Elmer's glue on the bottle and slowly wrapping the twine from bottom to top. I then put greenery, also from Hobby Lobby, in them along with silver beaded and glitter accent pieces ( I could not find the greenery online, but it may still be in stores, any craft store should have some really). I then just scattered the remaining Christmas balls and pine cones to tie it all together. I hope you enjoy my winter table!

Humbled Again And Again!

So Honored ladies, Thank You So Much!

On Tuesday I was taken aback when I read the comment on my outfit post. I had just been nominated for The Very Inspiring Blogger Award by Caroline from The Girl In The Yellow Dress  last week and, to my pleasant surprise, I had been nominated for this Liebster award by not one, but two different lovely ladies! It is an award given to inspiring bloggers that have less then 200 followers to help spread the word of their inspiring sites. You are asked to answer the 11 questions given to you by the blog that nominated you, and then create 11 questions of your own for 11 more blogs that you pass the award onto, each blog also having less then 200 followers. Their blogs Fashion. Love. Unlimited. and That Seems Lovely are two of my favorites for sure. Axy and Beka, I cannot thank you enough for thinking of me when you received this award.

Here are the questions the beautiful Axy of Fashion. Love. Unlimited. asked me to answer:

1. What is it about fashion that attracts you?
The creativity to be your own person and wear what makes you happy.

2. Do you have a favorite item in your closet ?
That is such a hard question!Pretty much anything high waisted is my favorite bottom, but my leather jacket would have to be my favorite.

3. What is your absolute favorite movie and why?
The Hangover because it is pretty much the funniest movie I have ever seen and has to be my favorite because it can always put a smile on my face.

4. Who is your favorite fashion designer?
I love Christian Siriano actually, and Christian Louboutin for shoes, obviously.

5. Do you think music and fashion are a good combination?
Absolutely! I think any combination of arts, whether it be fashion, architecture, music, fine art, graphic design, or any other art form, is a genius combination.

6. How do you see fashion in 50 years from now?
Hmmm thats a good question. Is it a cop out to think that the Hunger Games had it right with their bright colors and funky hair and makeup? I think over time we have been more and more drawn to color and the unexpected, so I see fashion continuing on that path for sure. I think Lady Gaga's outfits will become the norm...and I am ok with that!

7. Do you think fashion can influence people's personalities and perspectives?
I think fashion definitely has an impact on my personality. When I get dressed up, I feel good, and that shows in my conversations and actions of everyday life.

8. What country in Europe (that you didn't get a chance to visit) would you like to see and why?
I have only been to Italy so i have a few places to choose from! Spain is my husbands #1, but I am pulling for France. the architecture and the fashion are just exquisite.

9. Can you name 3 celebrities from music, fashion, and film that you admire?
For fashion I would have to say Victoria Beckham. She is pretty much flawless and her style is impeccable.  For music I love Gwen Stephani, and her fashion is amazing as well. Hmmm for film I love Emma Stone and Anne Hathaway. They are my favorite actresses right now for sure.

10. What do you think it is the perfect recipe to run a fashion/lifestyle blog?
Honestly I am still trying to figure that out myself ;)

11. What is your New Year's resolution?
To learn to be a more caring, loving, respectful wife, daughter, sister and friend....and to get in shape of course!

Here are the questions the lovely Beka Nicole  of That Seems Lovely asked me to answer:

1)Favorite food.
My dad makes these Italian style blue claw crabs and they are by far my all time favorite.

2) Favorite item of clothing to shop for.
High waisted pants. A good pair is hard to come by, but if i find them I always feel sexy in them!

3) Favorite stores
BCBG max azria is my favorite store, but I sadly cannot really afford it. I also love Nordstrom, J Crew and Club Monaco, but they too can be pricy. Anthropologie, Urban outfitters, American Apparel, H&M, Forever 21, Banana Republic, Sephora, and Gap are my go-to stores.

4) Favorite movie
I have to repeat myself and say The Hangover, but of course I could watch any of the Harry Potter movies at any time and love them just as much as the first time.

5) What do you like most about fashion
That it is about expressing your inner personality on the outside of your body. It is a bit like giving someone a glimpse of your soul.

6) Fashion item you have been dying over to get
Lately I cannot stop myself from buying statement necklaces and I have my eye on a few more. I also have my eye on a few belts that I have been drooling over.

7) One item you can't live without
 My leather jacket.

8) Ryan Gosling or Channing Tatum?
My husband is going to kill me for answering this, but Ryan Gosling.

9) Funniest moment
I can think of so many funny moments I have had over the years, but I am going to have to give a shout out to my friend Briana for this one time we were walking to my old Philly apartment together and for some reason we could not stop "meaw-ing" like a cat.....or laughing for that matter.

10) Goal with your blog
To inspire others to dress to match their fun personalities.

11) Favorite joke.
I feel it is ok for me to tell a blonde joke because I AM blonde and I have now problem laughing at myself and my people:
A blonde is driving down the highway in a brand new convertible. She accidentally cuts off a truck driver and he motions her to pull over, so they do. He gets out of the truck and approaches her, then draws a  circle on the side of the road and tells the blonde to get in the circle and to not get out under any circumstances. He takes out his keys and keys a line down the blonde's brand new car. When he turns to see her reaction, the blonde has a huge smile on her face, which makes the truck driver even more angry. He takes out his pocket knife and slashes all four of the blonde's tires. He then turns around to find the blonde giggling. This makes him furious, so he takes a sledgehammer from his truck and bashes all her windows in. He turns around to find the blonde laughing. At this point the truck driver is fuming so he takes some gasoline, pours it all over the convertible and lights the car on fire. When he turns around to see the blonde's reaction, he finds her rolling on the ground hysterically laughing. Finally he has had enough and shouts "What is so funny? I just destroyed your brand new car!" and the blonde responds with, "When you weren't looking, I stepped out of the circle four times."

And here are the lovely blogs I want you all to check out! They are all such great reads for me and I know you will enjoy them as much as I do!

Chevron, Cognac, And Charcoal

Cognac Leather Goes With Everything

Hello again my lovely followers! Today I would love to share with you an outfit that contains a mix of warm weather and cool weather pieces that I have combined to create a perfect fall look. I mixed gray shorts that I love to wear in the summer with gray tights to make them fall and winter appropriate. I also paired them with boots to keep my legs and feet warm. This chevron top brings out a bit of navy for fall, and bright pink from summer. Even though it is long sleeved, it is a sheer top so it really can be warn in any month. I love this jacket because it is great for the summer and fall. The cognac color leather is not too harsh of a color for the warmer months, so it pairs well with the neon's and pastels of spring and summer, but also looks great with the jewel tones and darker colors of the fall and winter. It does not matter if the nutrals you are wearing are black, brown, gray, navy, green, or tan; the cognac color leather will compliment your outfit always.

Peplum Leather Love

Leather Anything = Instant Outfit Upgrade

Hows it going? It's the middle of the week and I thought I would spice up your life a bit with a fun going out outfit. I just picked up this black leather studded belt last weekend and I'm kind of obsessed (I have worn it twice already). Its perfect for adding an edge to any outfit. Speaking of edge...my leather jacket! This is definitely one of my favorite wardrobe staples. I have already had it for two years and it is something I know I will always keep in my wardrobe. It is a classic piece that really adds a little toughness to any top, even a flowy, girlie, peplum! I hope you like this look and it inspires you to add a bit of black leather to your life.

Day To Evening With Stripes And Bright Tights

Classic Shirt And Oxblood Tights

I have finally bought myself something oxblood! I am so excited to embrace this season's hottest new color. With my hair, eyes and complexion, I cant usually pull of this rich, dark fall hue, so I was ecstatic to fight tights in this color.  I actually picked up a few pairs in other colors including mustard, charcoal, cobalt, and classic black. Colored tights are a great way to put a twist on an outfit and also help bring some of your summer skirts, shorts, and dresses into the colder months. Because it is not a totally bright color, I felt it was appropriate to also wear these to the office, so I am giving you a day to night look with these stockings as well as a classic blue and white striped button down. I hope you enjoy!

Also, I've been getting a few comments on my hair and makeup. My brother does a you tube vlog (see my post Pink Pants Bro Style to find his link) and he offered to help me make tutorial videos over the holidays. Please let me know if you would like to see my hair curling, ombre dying, everyday makeup, Q&A, or any other videos you may think of, I am very open to suggestions. Once again, thanks so much for following I love and appreciate you all!

XOXO
